Rethinking Transplantation from the inside out.
Our Mission
We are on a mission to improve surgical outcomes and expand access to life-saving organ transplants through thoughtful, human-centered innovation.
Our Why
Transplantation is one of the most transformative fields in medicine—and one of the most overlooked when it comes to surgical tools. We’ve seen firsthand the friction, the waste, and the missed opportunities. So we’re building solutions that protect organs when it matters most: during surgery.
Our Approach
Built by surgeons, engineers, and designers, Diatiro is grounded in Stanford Biodesign principles and a commitment to usability, scalability, and clinical impact. Our technologies are simple, precise, and built to fit seamlessly into real-world surgical workflows.
Our Name
Diatiro \ verb \ (dee-AT-ee-ro)
1. from the Greek διατηρέω — to preserve, to protect, to keep alive over time.
2. to carry something vulnerable across a critical threshold.
Our name reflects our belief that true innovation in transplantation means not just transporting an organ, but preserving its potential through the moments that matter most.
The Team
We’re a team of transplant surgeons, product designers, and medical device engineers. We’ve led NIH-funded research, built FDA-cleared technologies, and trained at leading institutions. Most importantly—we’ve shared a scrub sink and a common frustration: why are we still using tools from 30 years ago?
Where We’re Headed
Diatiro is currently in stealth. We’re working quietly but with urgency—alongside top centers and early believers—to bring our first product to market. We believe in doing the work before making the noise.
